Personal Log: Today I was encouraged to try Klingon Ice Fishing. This devious Q version has you fishing with a Klingon Fishing Gauntlet. The Federation Database has this to say: Many Klingons believe that when dishonoured warriors die, they take the Barge of the Dead across blood-red waters Gre'thor. These waters are filled with pale serpents known as the kos'karii. It is from this lore than a yearly tradition developed.
Warriors would go to lakes and rivers and attempt to drag ghotl' from the frigit depths - with their bare hands! After gathering many ghotl', they would use them to lure a giant ghargh, once it appeared, the warriors would attempt to defeat it.
They believed this symbolic act would keep the kos'karii from luring warriors from the way of honor. Certain parts of the beast would be gathered afterwards and given to friends as gifts.
Q took this lore to create a new celebration in his Winter Wonderland. However, his humour prompted him to make the fish and the kos'karii out of candy.
Using a Klingon Fishing Gauntlet, rather than bare hands, players must smash through the ice in the frozen lake to retrieve gummy fish and place them in the centre of the lake. When enough fish have been gathered the Gummy Kos'karii emerges which the players must defeat before the timer expires.
A human friend said that his ancestors used to fish by "Noodling" and that it reminded him of that? Needless to say that it was an interesting experience would be an understatement.
Sierra Outpost II by Doc John Sierra Outpost II:
One of a series of listening posts and defense stations along the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone.
The outposts were designed as an early warning system in the case of a Romulan attack on the Federation.
With the destruction of Romulus, many of these outposts have been expanded to include space for researchers or cargo space for relief supplies.
Doc's Star Trek Fun Facts:
*This system name is a homage to the PC game "Outpost II", from Sierra Software, a popular space simulation game in the late 1990s.*
**According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 66), Sierra II was one of a series of outposts codenamed Sierra along the Romulan Neutral Zone. These outposts were located in the Kaleb/Caleb (Sierra) sector in the Beta Quadrant. **
***Sierra VI was a Federation outpost near the Romulan Neutral Zone.
In 2366, the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D detected a Romulan scout ship in the Romulan Neutral Zone. This outpost confirmed the presence of the scout ship and sent a message to the Enterprise-D. After receiving intelligence from a Romulan defector about a possible Romulan base at Nelvana III, this outpost received a warning from Starfleet Command. (TNG: "The Defector")***
Doc's sad facts:
*Until its removal from the game as part of the 5 Year Anniversary Event, the mission “Minefield” took place in this system.

**Since the 5 Year Anniversary Event, the Sierra Outpost II System was only accessible during user-generated missions. Cryptic killed the Foundry so this mission is lost.**
