NEWS

New Romulan Uniform

We have a smart new design for the Romulan Uniform based on the Competitive Reputation Duelist Outfit. This can be worn with or without a helmet. You can see the mission on the Romulan Fleet page here https://www.srs-fleet.net/srs-new-romulus-command

This uniform also has an awesome Cape with the Romulan logo. Incidentally, the KDF version has a faction-specific cloak too.

FLEET EVENTS AND NEW MEMBERS

We have had a lot of new members join us recently, however only one or two actually join us at events. I think this may be because they feel they don't do enough damage and will hold back the team.

I would like to ensure you that it makes absolutely no difference how much DPS you do in any TFO. Our CFOPS (Chief of Fleet Operations Officers) who host the events all do enough damage to complete the event on their own! So you cannot hold back the team, you can only make it easier, even if you are parsing 1000 DPS it still helps. It also helps because some TFOs require a team of 5 people to run, so if we can't get a full team we have to fill it with bot accounts which do no damage at all. By not taking part in events you are missing out on a lot of benefits listed below. If you don't take part you will:

  • Receive no MRP points and stand no chance of winning any prizes

  • Will not gain any SRS Endeavours and again miss out on prizes and MRP points boosts

  • We will not be able to look at your build and offer advice on how to improve your gameplay

  • Have no way of progressing up the ranks in SRS and gaining access to the banks

  • Will never be able to compete in our DPS leagues

  • Become bored with the game and eventually stop playing

STO is an MMO, these kinds of games rely on people joining teams and taking part. Without people playing in teams then it becomes a single-player game with enough content to last about 60 hours then you're done. I have found after 13 years of playing STO and 30,000+ hours that I get maximum enjoyment when I am in Discord making new friends and playing the events together, competing with others for the best DPS and also competing with myself, constantly trying to improve, or in the words of Data "I aspire to be more than I am". So, take part, you will enjoy it, and nobody will ever shout at you for having poor DPS, in fact, it will be the opposite, we will willingly help you improve both ground and space builds, in a matter of months I have seen many people increase their damage output by a factor of hundreds, e.g. 4K DPS to 400K DPS.

CRYPTIC NEWS Bug Central The changes to the exchange have not worked at all. You can still buy and sell and you will receive your items but you can also still go over your credit cap of 2 billion EC so be careful if you are selling a lot of ships. The Dilithium cap changes appear to have worked. The InvalidEntityName issue is still a thing although they have fixed this internally, expect a resolution in next week's patch. WARNING

For new players, be careful what you buy from the Zen store. We have seen a tendency for Cryptic to sell ship consoles or traits that perform very well and then a few months later nerf that ability. Only buy a ship based on its general stats and if you like it, never buy a ship based on its trait or console as there is a higher than zero chance it will be nerfed into the ground when they sell enough of them. This is not a cynical view it's a fact and this is a warning when spending your hard-earned money on this game. Recent examples are the Neutronic Eddies Console and the Agony Redistributor Console, I also expect the new Maelstrom torpedo to be massively nerfed when they sell enough as well as possible nerfs to the HYDRA console. Chronogami Time Portal

This free console from the recent First Contact Day event is pants, the damage it does is terrible and what's more, it isn't even recorded as damage on the SCM combat log. Finally to get the full advantage from this console you have to buy the recent bundle with the Akira and the Valdore as the set two piece is with the temporal pets, even then it's still rubbish, so I advise you not to use it as it's just wasting a console slot. NEW CONTENT

There is still no news on new content, but there is likely to be a new mission or two to drop around May 9th. We know there is a new TFO called Leviathan because Kael accidentally showed it on his live stream. Other than that expect a year which is more or less a repeat of the last few years events.

That's it for now, don't forget to take part in events, it makes the whole game ten times more enjoyable if you run it with a good team.

Cheers

Matt

Thanks for the heads-up about the Chronogami Time Portal console from the recent First Contact Day, Matt. I'd had a look and decided not to waste time grinding to get that, glad to have confirmation I wasn't missing out.
