The following MRP update is for the attention of CFOPS officers but other members may be interested to read.
After a recent incident where duplicate logging of events was recorded, I investigated how this could have happened by accident. I found out how the other day when running a Tau Dewa Patrol. In this series of patrols, many systems are added one after the other to the MRP calc sheet. What I discovered was that the Calc sheet was not updating the data from the SCM Data Entry Sheet in a timely manner. So it would go something like this.
Carraya system data entered
Logged using the script button
Switch Calc sheet to the next system, Japori System
Enter data into the SCM Data Entry Sheet
Switch back to Calc sheet, check builds and log space using the script button.
All sounds fine until I noticed that although the calc sheet had been changed to Japori, the data for each player was still set to the previous Carraya data. So logging this would give two identical Carraya System data but under Carraya for one set of numbers and Japori for the other set of identical numbers.
The reason seems to be twofold.
Reason 1: Google Sheets are unresponsive due to global load
Reason 2: The user PC is not fast enough to process all the data
In some cases during testing, it actually took several minutes for the data to update. Note, the data had been pasted into the SCM Data Entry area correctly, it just wasn't being pulled through to the main calc sheet.
SOLUTION
The following solution has been implemented.
SCM Data Entry Procedure Update
For logged events in the SCM Data Entry sheet it is now necessary to input the exact same system as you are inputting on the main calc sheet as shown here:
The above shows the Infected system, this must be the data that you are putting in and must match the Infected system shown on the Calc sheet thus:
Here you will see that under the LOG DATA it now says "Now Logging" and "Infected: The Conduit". This is correct. We can now be absolutely sure that the data in the SCM Data Entry Sheet is for the actual event you are logging and not data from a previous run.
If the sheet hasn't caught up yet due to one of the two reasons above, or if the system has been entered incorrectly on either sheet there will be a "SYSTEM MISMATCH" error shown as seen here:
Here we see that although we have changed the map to the Carraya System the SCM sheet is still pulling data through for the Infected map. The system name is now in red and there is a System Mismatch error highlighted to the right.
I realise this is one more thing for CFOPS to have to do, but in the interests of fair play and to ensure that people are not accidentally inputting the wrong data through no fault of their own it is vital that this new system is followed.
The system changes are live now.
Note NPE missions are ignored in this system.
