Finding your way around the new system, how it works and how to climb the leaderboard

What's new?
The previous version of the overall ranking was a complicated calculation based on DPS, threat and healing. This didn't really work to everyone's satisfaction and also meant that by running just a couple of TFOs as a support and a DPS you could more or less climb to the top.
That system has been totally scrapped in favour of something I never thought I could do but have managed to nonetheless. League and build based DPS ranks
We have 15 leagues at the moment which are included in our DPS system, systems such as the one shown in the example above, Beta Thoridor, and others such as ISE, HSE, Trouble over Terrh and all the rest. Each player can earn rank points for each of their builds in each league. So you could have an EPG build in 1st place gaining you 20 points, a FAW build in 10th place gaining you 11 points and a CSV build in 20th place gaining you 1 point, meaning for that particular league you will have gained 32 points. Repeat that across all the leagues and you'll have a pretty respectable score. This new ranking system will encourage players to try and get on the leaderboard for as many leagues as possible with as many builds as possible giving the highest score possible.
Support is included
As this DPS League ranking only counts DPS, in order to add scores for the players who like to play support, they are given the same 20 points down to 11 points for the top 10 in that league.
Advice
In the example above you can see the current real scores but not the names, these will be revealed when the system goes live on the 14th. You will also notice that advice is offered depending on what rank you have achieved.
Master of STO and other badges
The Master of STO is retired (those who earned this will keep it). Some new badges are going to be added to the profiles on the website and possibly a hall of fame later. These will be for the following:
Undaunted - 100 rank points
Courageous - 200 rank points
Valiant - 300 rank points
Expert - 400 rank points
Champion - 500 rank points
Outstanding - 600 rank points
Superior - 700 rank points
Exceptional - 800 rank points
Master - 900 rank points
Legendary - 1000 points
Legendary Champion - 1500 points
Q - 2000 rank points
The above scores, rank position and badge have also been added to the personnel files but are currently switched off. They will be switched on at the same time as the league goes live.
Adding in new scores
It is worth noting that if you already have a score in a league at, for example, 10th place, you will be earning 11 points. If you then put a different build in that same league in 1st place you will gain another 20 points, however, this will push your own previous build down to 11th place losing you a point, so your overall increase will be 19 points, not 20 as you may have at first expected. Likewise, if you have many builds in a league and they all get pushed down by one of your own builds they will all lose a point.
How to Increase your score.
It should be obvious by now if you've read this far, that to increase your score all you have to do is run as many different builds in as many leagues as possible. Some of the people you may have expected to be higher in this league are lower because they don't have many builds in many leagues, they've done brilliantly in two or three leagues but that's not enough to get you up the ranking.
Aims
The aim of the Overall DPS League Ranking is to encourage more diversity in missions, more build experimentation, more friendly competition and more fun. It may be possible to add new leagues in the future if and when Cryptic decide to add more patrols or suitable TFOs.
Hyphenated names
If your account name has a hyphen in it, e.g. @bob-the-dog, because of the way the coding works the name is truncated and you will only see what is to the left of the first hyphen, so in this case, it would be @bob. I have checked and only found one member this affects. Apologies for this but there is really no way around it. Google drive Lag
Please note it may take several minutes for scores to be updated in all areas of the DPS league as the data is imported automatically amongst around 20 spreadsheets and this really depends on how much latency there is in the Google drive system at the time.
As with all new systems, the above is subject to change and revision. Thanks to Evan Golliher and Shane Walton for the idea. I hope you all enjoy this updated system and as ever, if you find any errors please let me know.
My best
