Battle At The Binary Stars (BATBS)
Hi everyone I've got some exciting news regarding our SRS DPS leagues.
As you know our DPS league here at SRS is far more expansive than the "Official" DPS League. We don't just offer ISE, HSE and a couple of ground maps, we offer 15 maps and a ground league. Within those 15 space maps you can choose which build you would like your parse to be recorded under (providing it meets the requirements for that build).
This makes the DPS pretty significant in terms of data. I have built a relational database using Google Sheets (I know but Google don't offer basic database services so I had to improvise). Imagine 20 spreadsheets pulling data from hundreds of players each logging 1 of 12 possible builds over 15 maps (+ground). That's a lot of data each time an event is run. This means the sheets can sometimes be a little slow to load and depend a lot on your CPU speed and internet connection.
The big news today is that we have removed the Ruins of Doom Patrol due to the hated Mo'kai Klingons and some other dodgy mechanics and replaced it with the first wave of Battle at the Binary Stars. This is a perfect DPS League scenario. We have a minute briefing to check your build, then there is a good 20 seconds to get your buffs going then over three minutes of actual combat time with wave after wave of Klingons (who don't have viral impulse burst YAY). The result is that all builds do well here, with enough uncons you can certainly get your Universal Console abilities off around 4 times in three minutes (which goes to show how important Uncons are). If you are not familiar with uncons, it stands for the personal space trait Unconventional Systems and you can look it up here
The DPS league has now been updated and because we already have a few events logged you can see the results building right away.
I'm looking forward to testing all my builds and seeing you guys enjoy this mission. Usually, we have a full team which means we can go on to finish this easy TFO, it is of course like all DPS leagues run at Elite difficulty for maximum carnage in the best Star Trek tradition lol. ADVICE ON BUILD MATCHING Some of you still don't understand build matching.
There is a part of the calc sheet shown below which offers the current build on the player's ship as recorded in the member comments.
Build matching helps the CFOPS to select the right build and gives you extra points. But it must be exact or the sheet won't recognise it. So here you see the top one where the player has used BO/FAW because they switch between those builds, this is not build-matched, what you need to do here is choose the build you usually use the most. If you choose BO and we run an event where you decide to use FAW it will still be logged as FAW but it won't receive the small bonus MRP points. It's not a massive deal as we always check anyway, but I advise anyone who's not sure to read the build-matching web page here.
Finally, with the removal of Ruins of Doom, your overall ranking on the leaderboard for the DPS League may have dropped as those data have now been removed. This effects everyone including me, but don't worry, just run BATBS and you will get much better results and won't have to experience being thrown halfway across the map by the most annoying NPC ability in the game! Enjoy.
Oh and happy Easter for all those of you who celebrate such things, let's hope for a second coming of STO content whilst we're at it!
Matt
